GABRIELA CAMPOS
In Memory of Truth
September 20 to November 9, 2008
Gabriela Campos’ poetically expressive art is a blend of realism
and fantasy rooted in the artistic community of Oaxaca, Mexico. Over
the past number of years, her preferred subject matter has been the tree—the
eternal symbol of birth, life, and death—which is often integrated
with images of women.
Campos’ watercolours, monoprints and etchings are thematic in
their composition. She applies conceptual arrangements to portray an
alchemical and interpretive exploration of the human condition in a sensual
way: “Like
a reporter who explores and exposes the core of events, I try to create
images that give witness to our emotions and passions, fears and aspirations,
successes and failures.”
Gabriela Campos, born in Los Mochis, Mexico, has been painting and
printing professionally for twenty years and lives near Holstein.
