Environs is an installation that acknowledges and transforms the interior of the main gallery space, exploiting the dramatic effects that one generally associates with theatre by employing coloured lights, transparent scrims, video projection and sound elements. This mode of working dovetails quite coherently into her earlier work as a performance artist, but by now placing the audience into the physical centre of the concept as active participants rather than as passive observers she invites a different perspective on the physical relationship between the viewer and the object.

The installation is intended as space that one enters into and consequently intends to inform or reform our relationship with the spatial world.

Catherine, currently completing her MFA at Concordia University in Montreal, is a long time resident of Flesherton.
